How to Remove Hair Extensions

Removal of hair extensions can be done by a professional or you can remove them yourself. Whether the extensions are pre bonded, micro rings, or fusion bonded hair extensions, it is important to keep you hair in great condition.
Clip-in Hair Extensions
Removing clip-ins is incredibly easy. Just as you simply clip them into your hair when you want them, when you have had enough you just open open the clip and away you go.
Seamless Hair Extensions
Seamless hair extensions can be removed by applying an adhesive remover or solvent and by gently massaging the adhesive to loosen the bond and remove. A great tip when removing seamless hair is to use a blow dryer on low heat after you have applied the solvent. This will help loosen those hard to remove bonds.
Bonded Hair Extensions
Bonded hair extensions can be removed by applying an adhesive remover or solvent and by gently massaging the adhesive to loosen the bond and remove. A great tip when removing seamless hair is to use a blow dryer on low heat after you have applied the solvent. This will help loosen those hard to remove bonds.
Sew-in Hair Extensions (Weaves)
It would help if you had someone to help you. We recommend getting a sew-in weave removed by an experiences hairstylist. That way you don't run the risk of cutting your own hair. Its always good to have another pair of eyes when using scissors and working with your hair. Pull your weave up into a ponytail at the top of your hair. Take last track in the back and release from pony tail. This is the back of your hair some people can just feel the different between thread and their own hair. Place a mirror behind you so you can see the track cut one piece of the thread. Cut the thread, not the track. Start from where you cut the thread and lift remaining thread with your fingers. Repeat with rest of weave. You may have to make extra cuts but if you find where the knot is which is usually at either end and cut there then you can easily remove the weave.  It is best to use a razor or slim hair cutting scissors
Fusion Bonding Hair Extensions
Removal of any extensions that use a bonding agent must be done at a salon, but both fusion bonding and pre bonded extensions are removed in exactly the same way. A bond remover containing acetate will be applied to soften up the bond. After a bond has been briefly soaked, it is then broken up with a pair of pliers. If done correctly, the whole extension will slide down the
Micro Rings Hair Extensions
Again, it is important to get Micro Rings removed by an experiences hairstylist as trying to pull them out yourself can severely damage and break the hair. Proper removal is very quick, easy, and simply involves clamping the rings with a pair of pliers to squeeze them open. They are then just slid off of the hair, leaving it in perfectly good condition.natural hair.
Our hair naturally sheds overtime, but with extensions in, it sometimes can not fall from the head. The result is it looks like you are losing lots of hair when they are removed, but don't be alarmed, it's perfectly natural. Once all your extensions are removed, it is wise to follow up with a good shampoo and a deep condition. At Sultry Hair Extensions, we sell hair extension removers and solvents for every hair extension type.
