Perfect Ponytails for Spring

Spring is here and the weather warming up, most of us want to get our hair out of our face. It’s much easier to tie our hair up and head out the door feeling cool and comfortable than it is to style with heating tools hoping the style lasts through the heat and humidity.
The ponytail is a classic style that you can never go wrong with. The style holds well in any weather and looks great for any occasion with a bit of styling and hair product. I’ve listed a few ways to make the classic ponytail different, fun, fresh and perfect for spring.

Low Ponytail
Try moving the pony tail to the side, and add some curls with a curling iron.. If you have bangs, you can slick them back or leave them out. Eva Longoria is pictured above with low side parted ponytail with waves and a teased crown. This glams up the ponytail for any occasion. Nicole Richie is shown with a more casual pony tail, loose waves and a slightly messy and natural feel.

High Ponytail
For a more playful look, try the classic high ponytail. Kate Beckinsale is seen with a bouffant style to add old hollywood glamor to her high ponytail. Lucy Liu is shown above with the ponytail placed high on her crown with her hair wrapped around the base.

If your hair is thin or short, try our clip-in hair extensions can give you a fuller and/or longer ponytail. If your bangs are thin or you don't have any bangs at all, our clip-in bangs can give you the fringe without the fuss or long term commitment of cutting your hair. This classic style is easy, fun, and affordable.

Zoe Saldana's Sophisticated and Feminine Hair

The fabulous actress that starred in box office hit Avator has another upcoming film The losers; in which, she plays a dangerous and siren. While watching the trailer starlet Zoe Saldana caught our hair radar. She sports sexy long locks that are styled in lightly tousled in romantic curls. Sultry Hair Extensions has noticed Saldana's soft and feminine tresses. This sophisticated look is something woman everywhere would like to imitate. This is easily done with Body Wave Sultry Hair extensions, add some delicate, girly curls and sweep the fringe.

Miley Delays Her Flight for Hair Extensions & Highlights

Before heading to LA to make an apperance on American Idol, Miley Cyrus stopped by a New York Salon for highlights and hair extensions. In fact, Cyrus delayed her private plane for four hours while she met with her stylist. To get this look try our Indian straight hair extensions.

Add Highlights Without the Commitment

Add highlights and color to your hair with no long term commitment and hair damage. Sultry Hair Extensions add subtle or dramatic highlights or lowlights to your hair, making you the envy, and giving you the look you have always wanted.

Have brown hair and want a change? Considering a few highlights but you’re not completely sure or you’re worried about adding light colors or damage to your hair? Then why not try Sultry Hair Extensions. If you hair is normally a dark brown (#2) you can also add another color hair extensions and blend it will to look as though you’ve have highlights. We recommend going for colors one to two shades lighter/darker than your base color. In the example above, if you base color is dark brown (#2), we recommend going for colors medium brown (#4) or chestnut brown (#6) for added highlights. If you want to add lowlights we recommend color off black (#1b).

Have your cake and eat it to! Add hair extensions for hi/low lights and save your hair from the damage of bleaching/coloring your natural hair without the commitment. Try something different with your hair. Extensions are the perfect way to do this because if you don’t like it or you change your mind you can just take them out or even dye them to match your natural hair color.

Blunt Bangs

Blunt bangs add edge to any hairstyle. For a long time, soft hair was the trend and now there’s a change with some attitude.
1. What hair type does this style work best on?

Blunt bangs typically look best with straight hair that is cut all at one length. However, we’ve recently seen stars like Kim Kardashian wearing her blunt bangs with wavy hair creating a contrast between the hip, edgy bang with romantic, tousled hair.
What face shape do these bangs look best on?
Blunt bangs work well for everyone, if done right. Many times, younger people can pull off the style the best, but virtually anyone can sport this look. The best face shape for blunt bangs is a longer, oval-shaped face.
2. What are some other great bang choices for girls who do not have the appropriate hair texture/face shape?
Longer bangs that can be pushed to the side of the face add movement to the hairstyle, such as the side swept bang. This type of bang is the most universally worn and can look great on many different face shapes/hair textures.
3. Are there other types of bangs?
If blunt bangs aren't for you. You can select the proper bangs that fit your style. There are many to choose from: Super Short Bangs, Long Bangs, Angled Bangs, Straight Bangs, Wavy/Curly Bangs.

Blunt bangs add to style to your look, even when your hair is pulled back into a ponytail. You can just blow out your bangs and throw your hair back. It adds an egde to your look and gives you a change that’s not as drastic as a shorter haircut. Try our Sultry Clip-on Bangs to transform your hairstyle with this look, without the commitment.

Spring Trend Alert: Wavy Mermaid Hair

Another trend that's making a splash this season is down-to-there mermaid hair. When I think of mermaid hair Lindsey Lohan comes to mind. Who wouldn’t envy mermaids their long, lush, radiantly lustrous hair? No wonder myth has it that sailors shipwrecked at the sight of lovely sea-maids combing their abundant tresses. Our Indian Wavy hair (preferably in the longer lengths 18" to 26") would tranform your hair into long wavy mermaid locks.
To achieve this look with our Indian wavy hair simply wash, apply a light holding serum (we recommend Mixed Chicks Leave in Conditioner/Styling Cream) and air dry. Sulty Hair Extensions 18"-26" are best worn with perhaps long layers in it to break it up a little. It’s always better when wearing your hair so long to have some kind of curl and shape in there to help it appear natural.

Not All Human Hair Extensions Are the Same Quality

Hair Extension quality is the most important factor responsible for the looks and the life span of hair extensions. So it is necessary to know more about it before you shop around for extensions.
Cuticle Hair
This is one kind of good human hair, its cuticle is healthy and undamaged. The cuticle locks in essential moisture and protects hair against outside elements, more important is that much of the shine is due to the cuticle, which together with the pigment within the cortex, gives hair its healthy and natural characteristic appearance, so without cuticle, hair would appear dull and lifeless, dried out and brittle. This kind of hair is very expensive. The majority of hair sold today is non-cuticle, which is less expensive, and is suitable for restyling and coloring when they are human hair.
European Human Hair
This kind of hair is not necessarily from Europe, which is just one hair name of having similar structure and character. Indian hair, American hair, and European hair all can belong to European hair. Typical European hair is relatively thin and has an oval cross-section. This kind of hair is very popular for human hair products.
Asian Hair
This kind of hair is mostly Chinese hair, which is thicker than European hair and has a round cross-section. It is always dark black, so manufacturers will do an acid bath wash on the hair to make it thinner and lighter. The hair can then be processed into many different styles and colors. This type hair is less expensive.
Indian Hair
Just because someone tells you that the hair is “Indian hair” doesn’t mean that the hair is of the highest quality. Quality depends on the collection method. When different types of hair are mixed with the cuticles aligned in different directions, the cuticles must be removed to prevent tangling and therefore hair will be covered with silicon making it a less quality product and therefore less expensive.
Indian Remy Hair
The finest quality hair and most beautiful hair in the world with all cuticles present and aligned in the same direction.
Superior Process, Superior Quality
At Sultry Hair Extensions we use only the world’s finest Indian Temple Double Drawn Remy Human Hair. Remy means cuticle correct or that only the finest virgin hair (not treated or previously colored) is used. The high level quality of our hair extensions is matched only by the level of our passionate commitment to create your prefect experience.

Flat iron/Curl Hair Extensions Safely

Moisture loss is the main cause of hair extensions to lose luster, resulting in dry frizzy hair. The best way to maintain the quality of hair extensions while still using styling tools is to use as little heat as possible.
If you do decide to use a flat iron or curling iron, its ideal to follow these guidelines to prevent as much damage as possible to your extensions.
1. Always use a heat protector spray and only flat iron freshly shampooed dry hair. If your hair is dirty, the oils will adhere to the iron causing it to burn as it straightens.
2. Limit the frequency of use to reduce the amount of damage it can cause.
3. Make sure your hair is completely dry by letting it air dry, or blow dry sections before ironing.
4. Keep the temperature on low to medium heat and work with small sections. This allows you to achieve straight hair with less heat.
5. Be sure to use proper styling tools. Flat irons with tourmaline, ceramic and titanium metals tends to heat more evenly and are less likely to cause damage to processed hair.

6. Extensions do not receive nourishment from your scalp, so it is important to keep them moisturized. When washing and conditioning human hair extensions, avoid harsh products. Instead, use those with extra moisturising agents. It is also advisable to deep condition hair extensions at least once, to soften and moisturise.

How To Avoid Hair Extension Exposure

We've all seen someone wearing hair extensions that were exposed for everyone to see. To make sure that your tracks are never "on display". There are several ways you can prevent your hair extensions from showing and making sure that nobody knows they aren't as natural as they look.

  • Make sure your colour match is right. Before ordering your hair, make sure to check out our online hair color chart or purchase a hair color ring for more accuracy. Click here for more color selection help.
  • If you are bonding the wefts in with glue or tape, try pulling down a fine layer of your own hair over the weft and securing using liquid gold glue. This will disguise the weft even if your own natural hair blows up.
  • If you have fly-away, fine hair like Pamela Anderson pictured above, try using a light mist of hairspray. Lightly backcomb the top layer of your hair before brushing smooth and misting with spray to secure. Backcombing and spraying your hair before applying clip-in extensions also prevents slipping.
  • If you have a sew-in weave, make sure it is installed by an experienced professional hair stylist. A licensed stylist will make sure to leave enough hair out around the perimeter or edges of your natural hair. This will disguise the hair wefts and allow you to have more versatility with your hair styles. You can wear your hair up in a ponytail or bun or half up half down, or all down without worrying about your hair extensions being exposed.

By following these tips you can keep the truth about your extensions between yourself and us (and we won't tell).

Hair Extensions- Not just for Length

Add Haircolor, Volume and texture to your hair! Hair Extensions … their commonly accepted name does not do them justice. Hair extensions are not just for extending length to your hair.

Hair extensions will instantly add exciting new haircolor and highlights without the use of potentially harmful chemicals.
Extensions will easily build endless new volume and texture to your thin and lifeless hair. The desire for beautiful volume and texture is evident with the abundance of volumizing hair products, hairstyling tools and professional texturizing salon services.
Instead of creating the illusion of hair color, volume or texture with these products and tools, another option is to actually add them with professional salon hair extensions. The best thing about hair extensions for color is that it will not damage your hair, yet they will provide you with the complete haircolor or highlights you've always wanted. You can select your haircolor shades and blends, without any guessing games.

Do you want more than just the normal haircolor or highlights? Consider adding fantasy haircolor, feathers and crystals to creatively express yourself. Sultry Hair offers an array of fantasy haircolor shades.

Women today are constantly trying to add endless volume to thin and flat hair. We all want the voluminous, shiny hair like we see on the Hollywood celebrities as well as on the TV commercials and billboards. This can easily and instantly be achieved by simply adding hair extensions. You can choose to either have a full head of hair extensions for maximum volume or have your hair extension stylist strategically place extensions where volume is needed the most.

Hair extensions are the best way to add hair color, volume, texture and length to your hair. Get the hair you've always dreamed of with Sultry Hair Extensions. Whether its length, haircolor, volume or texture that you want, hair extensions are your hair dream come true!

History of Hair Extensions

Since the early days of the Egyptians, hair extensions systems have existed. Contrary to popular belief, that hair extensions were used for thinning hair, in actuality, hair extensions were used as cosmetic adornment that were used by both genders. In addition to cosmetic vanity, wigs served another purpose as well. To avoid infection of head lice, Egyptian men shaved their head but wore wigs to protect them from the different elements.

Like now, most of the hair extensions and wigs manufactured back then consisted of human hair. The main difference was the way they were applied to the wearer.

Today, we have fusion techniques, clip on hair extensions, bonding and and weaving; however, back in the day, they were fastened with a thread to the wearer's natural hair. Wigs were coated with beeswax or plant resin so that they could be secured to the wearer's scalp or natural hair.

As more things change, more things stay the same. Today, there are hundreds and thousands of hair extension products that are out in the market place. As long as society continues to judge people through their looks, hair extensions will continue to play a vital role. After all, everyone loves to have nice hair.

Caring for Hair Extensions

Hair extensions, or weaves, give the option of length and versatility. Depending on the quality, fiber and texture of the hair extension, it can last from two weeks to several months. Hair extensions are available in either synthetic or human hair. You can most from our hair extensions if we take the time to care for them.

Synthetic Hair
These tend to be more affordable than human hair extensions. They come in a variety of style options and have the amazing ability of maintaining whatever style they are in, curly or straight. And for those who shy away from using them because of how ‘fake’ they might look, innovations in the manufacturing of synthetic hair have led to high quality fibres that are very similar to human hair.
Also, new types of synthetic hair tend to be tolerant of heat, and can be restyled to add more versatility to one’s hair style. To keep your synthetic hair extensions looking better for longer, here are some tips to bear in mind:
1. Synthetic hair is prone to tangling and shedding, more than human hair. Use detangling spray on the extension, to ease the tangling.
2. Avoid using lots of products, e.g. pomade and hair oil, on synthetic weaves. This usually leads to product build-up, which makes the hair feel lifeless, or flaky when you brush it.
3. Synthetic hair is for temporary use, so discontinue use once the weave has lost its style and become unmanageable.
4. Find out if your preferred brand can handle heat, because most synthetic hair extensions are not heat resistant.
Human Hair
These are more expensive than synthetic weaves, but they last longer, can be styled using hot tools, and can be coloured. Human hair extensions are the best option when deciding on hair weaves. They vary in texture - from straight Chinese hair to wavy Brazilian and Indian hair. To maintain the quality of your human hair extensions, bear the following tips in mind:
1. Treat the hair as your own. In other words, wash and condition every two weeks. Extensions do not receive nourishment from your scalp, so it is important to keep them moisturized. When washing human extensions, avoid harsh shampoos. Instead, use those with extra moisturising agents. It is also advisable to deep condition hair extensions at least once, to soften and moisturise.
2. Be gentle when brushing the hair. Brush it softly from the bottom up, to gently release tangles at the end and to avoid tugging and releasing the hair.
3. Be careful when using heat. If you must, seal in moisture by using heat protectant products.

How Long Can You Safely Keep Hair Extensions In Before Removing & Reinstalling?

How long hair extensions can be installed depends on the type of extensions, the quality of the extensions, the skill of the stylist and the application method. There are weaves that can last as much as three months and bonded extensions that can last as much as two months, but should be checked every 4-6 weeks to make sure there are no problems developing with the scalp, and to make sure the adhesive is holding well.

Your natural growing hair sheds about 100 hairs a day. These are the hairs you find in your hair brush and in your shower drain. Hair shedding plays a critical role in determining the safe amount of time an extension attachment can be worn.

When extensions are in your hair, your natural hair is still shedding at its normal rate, and the shedding hair becomes trapped in the hair extensions. So if
you have the hair extensions are installed longer than the recommended time, your natural hair that has shed may matt and tangle with the hair extensions.

Consult your hair stylist about how long you can keep the hair extensions installed. Make sure you follow your stylist’s instructions for caring for your extensions. Keep your hair clean and conditioned and follow your hairstylist instructions.
